A Poet's Refuge
A poet's refuge is a place to hide,
a place to work out the things you have inside,
a place to be alone after a long hard day,
a place where you can be quiet when you have nothing left to say,
a place where you can look down deep into your heart,
a place where it doesn't matter if you are silly or smart,
a place where you can listen to whatever has been said,
a place where you can just relax and read a poem instead.

Welcome to A Poet's Refuge
I know this page looks kind of funny (it has no pictures if you didn't notice), but I decided pictures would ruin the environment of meditation/relaxation that I was hoping to create. I made this place as a refuge to come when you are down, or need to withdraw from the world a little while. All the poems on this site were written by me (Sharon Martin). I'm still working on this site (and learning HTML), so I will be adding some more pages and poems to it. Sit back and enjoy.
A Dim Glimpse
Dim rays shining from the sun,
water glistening, sparkling like diamonds.
So much beauty, so much peace;
my heart is stirred at this wondrous painting.
Beautifully crafted by the Potter's hand,
all the earth is under His command.
A touching glimpse of His loving heart;
a gorgeous picture, a work of art.
Wonderfully formed, made by His will;
the dew glitters in the morning still.
From the mountains to the sky,
from the desert to the streams;
His presence is there,
His love remains.
Soveriegn Lord
Sovereign Lord He is my strength;
He keeps me from harm, from all the bad things.
He opens my heart with His loving touch;
He has given me everything, almost too much.
I tremble and shake with fear,
when I feel His presence come near.
He lifts me up with His awesome power,
He sustains me from hour to hour.
I shed tears when I think of His love,
He gives me hope from high up above.
I listen to His voice as He speaks to my heart,
and I watch as He molds me into a work of art.
I stand in awe at this awesome love,
and I listen to the hope that comes from high up above.
Captivated
I am captivated by a love,
a love I cannot see.
And I wonder at this love:
Why did it choose me?
For I am not that great,
I have made many mistakes.
And so this love does captivate,
the heart of one like me.
How does one repay this love,
a love that never fails?
What was it thinking of,
when it chose unworthy me?
I wonder at this love,
the love that set me free.
And more and more I'm glad,
He chose someone like me.
